We pride ourselves in providing luxurious and authentic experiences to our guests. The highest levels of luxury and personalized service are our mantras, but so too is respect for the environment, local communities and the underprivileged. We do not believe that our guests should have to worry about how much water they use or how many towels and clothes they give for laundry. That is for us to worry about, and take the necessary steps to minimize our guests’ and our impact on the environment.

We believe that we should give back to the environment, and not necessarily within our hotel. At Sher Bagh, we send all the waste-water into a reed-bed, which soaks in toxins and releases the water back into the table. We are looking into rainwater harvesting projects and working to use as much solar energy as possible. We already have re-forestation projects around Ranthambhore and also actively assist park management. In 2008 Sher Bagh donated a troop carrier for patrolling the park, and funded the construction of a well and water trough for animals in an area of the park facing huge water shortages.

We believe we should give back to the community and at The Serai we organized veterinary camps that treated about 600 cattle head, as well as health camps and eye check ups free of cost for our neighboring villages. We constantly endeavor to work with the villages around us by donating blackboards to schools or books,  and other teaching apparatus. We have a state-of-the-art filtration system for our swimming pool which allows us to recycle, and therefore conserve precious ground water.

At each of our hotels, we predominantly employ locals, whom we train for each of the departments. To give an example, at Sher Bagh, our luxury tented camp at the edge of Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve, we employ about 30 locals of a total staff of 36. Each one of them is the ‘bread-winner’ of their family unit, which comprises 8 people on average. We practice organic gardening and encourage neighboring farmers to do the same.
